About the Womens Club of Saluda
The Womens Club of Saluda traces its roots to around 1914, when a group of women decided — before they had the right to vote — that it was time to clean up the open sewer running through downtown. Civic action came first, with a book club not far behind.
In the decades since, our members raised funds for residents during the Great Depression, provided school lunches, tutored students, helped bring a health clinic to town, and sent local students to college.
Today, we are women from Saluda and surrounding areas who gather monthly with guest speakers from the community, support each other, raise money for our annual scholarships, and look for ways to help our neighbors. We've been doing this for over a hundred years, and we welcome longtime residents, part-time neighbors, and women who recently moved to Western North Carolina.
Mission Statement
The Womens Club of Saluda is committed to serving our community by investing in the educational dreams of local residents of all ages, from recent graduates to lifelong learners. Our scholarships are made possible by the generosity and fundraising efforts of our members.

Scholarships for Saluda Residents
Since the 1970s, we've awarded scholarships to Saluda residents pursuing every kind of education: high school graduates heading to four-year universities and technical schools, working adults returning to community college, and people learning a trade or changing careers.

Awards start at $1,000 and go directly to your school or training program. Over the past fifteen years, our members have raised more than $42,000 for Saluda scholars through dinners, raffles, and the generosity of neighbors.

A Century of Women Leading Saluda
For more than a century, women in Saluda have stepped forward when the town needed them — from Depression-era relief to today's scholarship program. The faces have changed; the commitment hasn't. Each generation has shaped Saluda in its own way, and the next is just beginning.

Our legacy is one of resilience, generosity, and women working together to strengthen the place we call home.

Vision Statement
Rooted in more than a century of community service, the Womens Club of Saluda envisions a Saluda that flourishes because its people do — empowered by education, supported by community, and connected across generations.
